Welcome to Room 256 and the exploration of our world through scientific inquiry (questioning, asking, and answering). Our study of Science will revolve around hands-on and project-based learning experiences that will put you in the role of discovering truths about the world in which we live. I look forward to our joint exploration of the world around us!
A Little About Me
This is my 1st year at Kelly Middle School. Before coming to KMS, I spent several years with Roseville Community Schools in a variety of positions. I received my Bachelors Degree in Education from Wayne State University in 2005, focusing on Science and English. I am married and have three wonderful children ages 13, 7, and 5 ½.

Course Content and Curriculum
8th Grade Science focuses on the High School Earth Science curriculum standards. Here are some of the concepts we will be studying this year:
· MEAP Test Preparation & Review
· Principals of Earth Science
· Earthquakes &Earth’s interior
· Plate tectonics & Volcanoes
· Rock Forming & Processes
· Discerning Earth’s History
· Hydrogeology
· Oceans & Climate
· Resources & Environmental Challenges
· Severe Weather
· The Sun and Other Stars
· Cosmology & Earth’s Place in the Universe
Grading, Late Work Policy, Testing, Materials, and Classroom Conduct Expectations can be found in the attached syllabus. Please go over the syllabus with your student and sign/ return the bottom portion by Friday, September 6, 2013.
